Meet Jon Skeet. But you probably already know him. Last week I had the opportunity to meet him in person – I went to DevDay 2013 conference which took place in Cracow.
And I have to say – this was a great speech from Jon. But what was probably most important- during coffee breaks we had time to talk with all the speakers. And I have to say – they really have a lot to say. Jon (his twitter is here) is one of the best C# programmers I know – and what is most interesting, his daily work is in Java (80% of his work time) for Google.
I have seen the slides content.. but listening how Jon presents the topic, how enthusiastic he is during his presentation – that was a real pleasure for me. There was not a single moment of boredom, always at full concentration (imagine that it was all after 4h of sleep after 7h train journey to Cracow!).
The session was recorded – as soon as it will be posted online, I will add the link to that.
Some say that there is no reason to go to any conferences – because all that content can be found online. Yes, of course. But even watching recorded session will not give you the energy, the fun, the enthusiasm you can feel when you actually are there. And more over – you have committed your time for that. There is no distraction like there is at home. That is why I regret that I so rarely go to conferences – but I plan to change it. The DevDay has changed everything…
